Deep Tones for Peace is an international organization of bass players and composers dedicated to peace in the Middle East. Deep Tones for Peace produces bass festivals and concerts worldwide and online as a humanitarian and nonpartisan appeal for peace. We sincerely hope that our music (classical, jazz and contemporary), can be received as it is being offered, as a sharing of distinct musical languages and structures that co-exist and are appreciated by all participants.

The deep tone that is found at the root of the trees… William Parker

Deep Tones For Peace Is an on going collective musical composition for acoustic bass players based on the sentiment of peace. Peace in the Middle East that would radiate outwardly on to the world. Musically, it is an individual and communal multidimensional meditation on the concept of living in harmony with each other. Philosophically, it is about making a commitment and truly believing that the music that we are doing can really bring about balance in the world.

The strategy called Deep Tones is at the core of all life inspiring music regardless of style. Its origins come from the cry of the people and the response to these cries by a concerned community of bass players. All the colors in the spectrum of sound have the possibility of falling into the category of deep tones. Deep tones swing, dance, pulsate whisper and roar when needed. They drone with polyphonic melodies on top of chromatic rhythms and three-dimensional harmonies. They include extended and fundamental technique. It is the intent of the music that will make it work. The content of the music is limitless.

Peace is a necessity for our survival and for the continuation of life. This can be only be done by coming to the realizing that the concepts of forgiving, sacrifice and reconciliation are not weaknesses but the core of one’s strength. It is the right of every human being to seek to live life to its fullest. Only by acknowledging the dreams of others can our dreams come true.

The first telematic bass music performance for peace in the Middle East was performed on April 26, 2009, live on the Net between internationally recognized double bass players located in both Jerusalem and New York City for local audiences as well as a world-wide webcast.
